The goldfinches have really started coming into the spring plumage over the last 2 weeks. This one still has a fair amount of winter coloring to it. Most of mine look more like this bird, mostly yellow but still with a fair amount of patchy gray. The forehead is the last part of the black cap to come in.
This one is pretty close to full breeding plumage, most of mine aren't quite this far along.
I have been birding to some extent for most of my life though I have become much more obsessed with it over the last 10 years. I live with my wife, Ginger, and 2 little daughters, Hazel and Hannah, here in St. Joseph, Michigan after spending 8 years in Ann Arbor, Michigan where Ginger and I met.
The photographs are almost entirely digi-scoped with a hand-held Canon A620 Powershot in front of a 77mm Leica Apo-Televid (The Great Eye). They're displayed here mostly 600x800pix, I have much higher res copies if anyone is interested in publishing them.
