What's better than one Spectacled Owl?

Two of course!
Jose and his gardener contact led us to the day roost of this pair of Spectacled Owls on the same property as the Tody Motmot.

Review of the SORA database shows one paper about Spectacled Owls, one reviewing identified prey items in pellets in Southern Mexico.  There the birds concentrated on Naked-tailed Climbing Rats, the largest rodent smaller than they are in that area.  Spectacled Owls are the largest owl in southern Central America though would easily be a size smaller than a Great Horned.
